Finally the season is here?
It is great to see all the golf courses making a fantastic recovery after a terrible wet winter.
My Upcoming tournaments. My first start of the year is in the PGA Club Professional Qualifier at Sand Moor in Yorkshire. If I am successful the main event is a 4 round tournament, this year played at Conwy Golf Club. Its our flagship event and beside good price money a place in the PGA Cup team is up for grabs (PGA version of the Ryder Cup).
In preparation for the qualifier I have had a practice round at Sand Moor(last week), booked my B&B for the night before. I like to play 9 holes the night before a competition to get a feel for the speed of the greens and make any last minute strategy plans. I liked Tigers comment last week. He likes to make contact with a club a 1000 times a day in the run up to an event. I don’t think I can do that but if I can at least make some contact every day I hope to gain some feel and improve touch.

Trackman Data
This week, Trackman launched their updated tour-pro data. It looks at what the average pro does with such things as launch angle, ball speed, club data etc.
Something that stands out is male tour pros are still hitting down on the ball with driver, on average.
You don’t HAVE to hit up on a driver to play good golf.
All things being equal hitting up will gain you yards and lose you accuracy. However both gaining yards and accuracy can be worked on to optimise your game.
